Since more than ten years, car ennobling by wrapping is the pragmatic alternative for conventional car painting. Who would not like to change the outfit of his vehicle from time to time, without thinking about to buy a new car or to make a new painting? Even these reflections have given the deciding impulse to CAM SHAFT company Kempen on the Lower Rhine, about nearly ten years actively working on the market with ambitious and creative „Premium Car Wrapping“ of high quality. CAM SHAFT incorporates ten years of experience to enjoy its clients with new highlights again and again. The company belongs to one of the leading car wrapping specialists in Europe setting constantly new trends and standards in fields of car styling by using very advanced wrapping techniques.

The objective to be able to give the client not only foil wrapping, but also a whole package, consisting of rims, chassis and foil, CAM SHAFT pursuits since a long time already, offering to its clients this all around service from a single source. Thus, they offer not only the chosen rim and chassis program, but meanwhile still another kind of service: Power increasing by software optimizing. In these fields, the decision was made consciously in favor of PP-Performance as the leading tuning expert of the Emirates. All kind of software optimizing in all PP-Performance bases is being made by Jimmy Pelka, known by tv. With this exclusive tuning source for software optimizing the focus on this swamped by „chip tuners“ market was put consciously on transparency, in the sense: Quality instead of quantity!

1000 Horsepower Volkswagen Golf by Boba Motoring

There are plenty of things to love about the Mk1 Volkswgen Golf. The machine’s horsepower isn’t one of them. From the factory, the little hatch cranked a breathy 112 horsepower from the most robust form of its 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine. Boba motoring, however, has taken that figure and multiplied it by a factor of nearly 10. If 1,000 horsepower sounds terrifying in a machine with a wheelbase of just 94.5 inches, it should. A massive Garrett GTX4202R turbo force-feeds the little mill through a tweaked 16-valve KR head. The crew calls the beast the 16Vampir, and we think that’s fitting.

Of course, we’d wager you quit reading right about the time you set your eyes on that headline. Those of you who’ve stuck around this long can Comments

The seventh-generation New York Auto Show festivities later this month, Volkswagen will finally show off the 2015 Golf models destined for our shores.

Three different versions of the Golf will debut under the lights of New York City’s Javits Center: the turbocharged TSI, oil-sipping TDI and hotter GTI. The first model in that list uses Volkswagen’s new 1.8-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine, replacing the outgoing 2.5-liter naturally aspirated inline five-cylinder. The latter two models use familiar engines: the 2.0-liter TDI diesel and 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, respectively.

Even though the new Golf officially debuts later this month, it won’t go on sale in the US until the first quarter of 2014. We’ll be waiting patiently.

736-hp Volkswagen Mk1 Golf smoking its tires - video screencap

There’s torque steer and then there’s what we’ll from now on dub “The Boba,” as in Boba Kettler. The German tuner has a way with the SRT Viper, all trying to get to ground through those two front wheels.

The 2.0-liter, 16-valve engine has an 8,800 rpm redline and is aided by a Garrett GTX3582R turbocharger shoving 50 psi through the internals. Other upgrades include a new ECU (natch) and a six-speed ‘box among other treats. The rubber is Toyo R888s – street-legal competition tires. The result is enough smoke for three Chinese New Years when the lights go green. Indeed, the standing start isn’t its forte, but it can apparently get from 62 miles per hour to 124 mph in five seconds.

The Golf VI’s Last Hurrah Is Pure Niche

This was in the heart of the ultra-chic Côte d’Azur during winter. The car to be tested was the not-for-North America 2013 Volkswagen Golf R Cabriolet. Prevailing weather conditions here this time of year are bizarrely pleasant, as though a dome of Swarovski crystal has been placed over the entire region to protect it from any real winter spoiling things. And the zippy Golf R Cabriolet is a sports car designed precisely for this area’s preciously narrow winding streets, as well as for the lofty budgets of its property owners.

So then why was it snowing like we were in northern Michigan? The weather front hit from the north like a swift kick to the Jordaches. The roof was open on this Candy White Golf R Cabrio and I, as is my wont, was determined through thick or thin to keep it retracted. It had been raining and sometimes sleeting like the End of Days, but I kept the lid cracked because the 261-horsepower cabrio – the most powerful convertible ever built by Comments

2014 Volkswagen Golf GTD

The Golf in Volkswagen history. A start/stop system helps improve efficiency over the previous generation with the new model consuming 56 miles per gallon on the EU cycle. That’s up from the 2013 model’s 46 mpg. A six-speed manual transmission is standard equipment, though a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox is also available.

The GTD also offers buyers a few aesthetic tweaks to help separate the hatch from its less potent siblings. Those include a more aggressive front fascia, special badges and 17-inch alloy wheels. Expect to find the GTD in one of three exterior colors, including Tornado Red, Black and Pure White. Check out the Comments

2014 Volkswagen GTI - live on stand at 2013 Geneva Motor Show

The all-new seventh-generation GTI hatchback. The fancy new Mk VII Golf is already off to a healthy start with positive reviews in Europe, and we have no doubt that this next GTI will work hard to regain its title as king of the hot hatches.

The big news for this generation of GTI is that for the first time ever, Volkswagen is actually offering two different power grades for the model, both relying on the 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four. Standard cars pack 220 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, but an optional performance pack ups the horsepower number to 230. Hitting 60 miles per hour takes 6.5 seconds (6.4 with the performance pack) and top speed is quoted at 153 mph (or 155 with the performance kit). Volkswagen will continue to offer the GTI with both six-speed manual and dual-clutch transmissions.

On the visual front, the sub-3,000-pound GTI adds the usual bit of hot hatch aggression over the standard Golf, and those changes carry over to the interior with a flat-bottomed wheel and, of course, plaid seats. She’s certainly a looker, and while some of us do find the new Golf’s design to be a bit staid and evolutionary, the enhancements for the GTI indeed tug on our enthusiast heart strings.

European customers can purchase the 2014 GTI in May, and North American deliveries will likely start in about one year’s time.
