Volkswagen formulated another SUV entry for 2008 that spells bold and exotic. The concept vehicle is dubbed as Tiguan, a peculiar name coined from tiger and leguan (German word of iguana). Said name was elected by some 350,000 readers of Germanyâs Auto Bild magazine. VW Tiguan debuted at the 2007 Los Angeles International Auto Show held last month.

VW Tiguan is a Golf/Rabbit-based concept that hosts a wide variety of powertrain combinations. One of which is the 50-state-compliant 2.0-liter diesel. Said engine will also be incorporated to other VW vehicles like the 2008 Rabbit and Jetta. The engine produces 140 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque. Other engine options include the current 200-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and 280-hp 3.6-liter V-6.

“It was very important to us to have the car appear powerful. Muscular. For us that had a higher priority than anything else”, says Klaus Bischoff, head of the Design Centre in Wolfsburg. He continues, “An offroader needs a long hood and an upright position. That lends the vehicle self-assuredness and power.”

VW Tiguan measures 4.4 metres long, 1.85 m wide and 1.69 m high. The size of the 4×4 concept Tiguan can be likened to that of Touran compact MPV. Tiguan is powered by sophisticated car parts Volkswagen aftermarket and OEM. Under its hood is a diesel engine called BLUETEC. The latter was developed in partnership with Audi and Mercedes-Benz. The technologies used in designing Audi and Mercedes-Benz auto parts play a great part in making Tiguan powerful and influential.

BLUETEC, as a fact, uses ‘Clean TDI’ â which is compliant with the emissions standards in the world. BLUETEC also uses NOx storage catalytic converter, which is capable of reducing nitrogen oxides by up to 90 percent compared to other diesel units.

Car parts accessories for Volkswagen Tiguan include the breathtaking panoramic sunroof, vintage style black leather seats, steeply sloping tailgate, dark-anodized metallic tone front grille, dominant cross fins, and more. To complete the appeal of Tiguan, it is given a unique tyre design with orange radial stripe underneath the profile.

More Tiguan details will be divulged by the automaker in the first quarter of 2007. The compact SUV is scheduled to go on sale in the United Kingdom in 2008.

In 1990s, midsize SUVs slowly replaced family minivans and sedans. Few models were created at first until it grew to around 35 recognized midsize SUVs at present. The VW repair manual states that the 2009 Volkswagen Touareg is a five-passenger 4-door wagon type vehicle that comes with a 4-wheel drive system. Its 3.6 liter V6 engine produces around 280 horsepower, while the V8 engine version has 350 HP. What is new for the 2009 Touareg is its TDI which has a capacity of 221-hp 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel. It also has a 6-speed transmission system. In addition, the Touareg has a 4wheel drive system which is very much dedicated for extreme off-road experience. Safety precautions include an ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front airbags, and side airbags. The maximum towing capacity of the Touareg is 7716lbs. Its key features include power liftgate, obstacle detection for both front and rear, and power drive seat. The size of the wheels is 20inches. The Touareg was manufactured with Porsche and the design was inspired by Audi Q7 large SUV.

On the other hand, the Land Rover LR3 is also a revised model but nothing much has been changed from the previous one. You can see this in chilton auto repair manual. It is a five-seat vehicle which has a 3rd row bench that allows 2 more passengers to ride in. The engine is a 4.4 liter V8 engine which can produce 300 horsepower. It has the same towing capacity with the Touareg. Likewise, it is also a dedicated off-roader that is built for rough or muddy terrain. Most of its safety and internal features are also the same with those seen on the Chevrolet Repair Manual for the Touareg.

These two vehicles are similar in a lot of aspects. Looking at them will also tell you that there are not so many differences between the two. These two are both good SUVs for their class. However, series of driving tests proved that the VW Touareg excels over the LR3. The road tests that have been done include acceleration, ride quality, steering, handling, breaking, quietness, controls, details, and driving comfort. The overall result gave it to the Touareg which garnered a rating of 69 out of 110 compared to the score of 64 of the LR3. The road tests have been conducted by Consumer Guide automotive.

Car enthusiasts and experts are confused as to the status of the VW Scirocco.

It has hardly been a week since reporters implied that the sexy VW Scirocco would not be coming in the US. And now it seems VW of America Vice President Adrian Hallmark may have not been analyzing well his assessment of the carâs being in the country. A couple of days ago, VW spokesman Hans-Gerd Bode told the media that VW Chairman Martin Winterkorn will have the final say in this matter. He further said Scirocco remains on the U.S. dance card for late 2008 and that VW plans a huge product offensive at the 2008 Geneva show.

The people from the Auto week seem to think that the 2008 Geneva Motor Show would be the appropriate time for VW to announce whether or not the Scirocco will be coming to the US. Reporters say it makes sense for VW to unveil the production version of the Scirocco at Geneva, where VW was eerily silent during the 2007 show.

The media people were all surprised knowing that Hallmark’s reasoning for not bringing the Scirocco to the US was because it “might cannibalize GTI sales”. Current lineup Volkswagen models consist of four small cars, a mid-size, and an SUV.

The new VW Scirocco is expected in 2008 and it will be produced in Portugal. The German car maker expects to sell 150,000 units over the life-cycle. Such huge number of expected cars to be sold is because of Volkswagenâs “driving fun at affordable prices” philosophy.

The Scirocco is based on the Golf V platform. However, it will be 10 cm lower, 4.5 centimeters longer and 3 centimeters wider. So, generally speaking, that sums up to 4.25 meters in length, 1.39 meterd in height and 1.79 meters in width. Prices are expected to be halfway between the Golf and the Eos, starting from 22.000 â¬.

Unlike other VW remake cars, the design of the Scirocco is not expected to recall old Sciroccos. There will be, however, an attempt to make the VW design more emotional. This will be visually seen in the big honeycomb grille in the front, long engine hood and a truncated tail. Also expect of course a modified VW fan to be among the other features of the new Scirocco.

The vehicleâs engine is of two versions of the 1.4 TSI twin-chargers (115 and 140 hp); the 2.0 Turbo FSI with 200 hp, while a V6 engine is a possibility for an R32 or R36. It is surprising for VW not to have the 170 hp version of the 1.4 TSI engines, while a 2.0 TDI 140 hp diesel engine is thought to be a certainty.
